This morning a family of 6 came to meet my little Em. Marek, Elizabeth, Ania, Milla, Rea and Maren took one look at her sweet little face and fell in love with her.
It was a tough morning, as I feel like all of us wanted to keep Emma, but at the same time, we didn't get into this because we were looking for another dog. We got into this because we love puppies and we wanted to help out dogs in need. Truth be told, we are making a difference with these pups. They shouldn't have to be stuck in kennels awaiting a forever home...they should be in a loving home learning the basics. They should be able to go out in a yard to go potty, and to go for a walk on a leash around a neighborhood. They should be able to cuddle up in a lap when they get tired, and have plenty of food, water, heat and air. That is what we are doing. That is what I remind myself.
Emmie's new home has a nice yard for her to explore, and lots of space to roam inside. She has 6 people willing to hold and love her...and it doesn't get any better than that.
So, I miss you, my sweet Em...but I know that you are happy in your new home, and that your new name, Gemma, will always have a little piece of us in it (G(emma!!)) Love you Little Bit!!

Merry Christmas!!
Emmie says MERRY CHRISTMAS!! I am so thankful this little love was able to spend Christmas with us this year, and not stuck in a shelter cage scared and alone. Emma got to meet lots of family, chew on rawhides, and play with Sami. When we went to my parents tonight for dinner, we left Emmie and Sami together and came home to...NO MESS!! They did a great job of NOT destroying the house together! Hooray!! I am really having trouble with the idea of letting Em go. She has been so sweet and loving, and she and Sami get along so well. Tomorrow we have a family coming to meet her, and I can't imagine them NOT wanting her. I know this is a good thing, and this is why we are fostering, but at the same time, I love this baby!!!
Sami loves her, too!!

Our newest foster babies...
Jake and Emma!!!! How cute are these babies?!? Add in their personalities and they are impossible to NOT love!!
Emma
Jake !!
Jake went to his forever home yesterday. We found a great family for him where he will live with Joe, Jennifer, Caroline and Gracie...plus dog Eddie. Jake will love his new home, but for now his sweet little Emmie is wondering where he went. We are thankful she has Sami working as her surrogate mommy/sister.

How did we get into this?
A year ago we decided to adopt our first dog. We found her online from Petfinder.com, and her name was Mocha.
Mocha was one of 3 puppies in a litter born to Daisy, who was rescued from a shelter.

We renamed Mocha "Sami" and took her from her brothers to our home...
Sami is the greatest dog ever!! She grew into a funny looking little mutt...we DNA tested her and she is a crazy Schnauzer/Chihuahua Lab/French Bulldog mix!!

Our First Puppies as Fosters
Our first puppies came to us from a 13 year old Chocolate Lab. Mama had never been been fixed and bless her she had had litter after litter, only for the babies to be left outside in the cold and rain. The night our pups were rescued there were 4 of them...we took the two fluffy ones, and another foster took the other two. Mama was also taken to be spayed and returned. It was snowing when we picked them up. These two sweeties had never been in a house. Never.
The puppy in the front is Luke. Luke was adopted by Brian and Gretchen, and kept the name we gave him. He is living the high life by the lake!!
Biscuit kept his name as well! He was adopted by Jennifer and family and is also a happy, beautiful INDOOR puppy being loved on by his new family!!
